Working Capital Guarantees reach DKK one billion in 2014

A dramatic increase in SMEs who obtain working capital through EKF

Every day EKF issues new Working Capital Guarantees to Danish companies – and already now Working Capital Guarantees have reached DKK one billion in 2014. That is a significant increase compared to DKK 920 million for all of 2013 and DKK 496 million in 2012.

”Working capital guarantees secure financing to Danish SMEs in particular. Many of the SMEs still have difficulties obtaining loans to invest in growth and jobs”, says Kim Richter, Senior Director, SME & Cleantech.

When export companies wish to obtain a loan in the bank, EKF issues a guarantee thereby taking over part of the risk. If, contrary to expectation, the companycannot pay back the loan to the bank, EKF will pay.

EKF’s Working Capital Guarantees have been available since December 2009 when they were established as a measure to counter the financial crisis which made it difficult for companies to obtain loans. More than 250 Danish companies are presently covered by Working Capital Guarantees from EKF, worth more than DKK two billion in total.
