New collaboration between EKF and the Danish Trade Council strengthens access to financing for Danish exporters

On 1 April, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Danish Ministry of Business and Growth will be launching a new advisory service for Danish exporters to assist them in obtaining export finance.
22 March 2013

As part of the government's growth market strategy, EKF and the Danish Trade Council have established a common advisory service for Danish exporters to assist them in obtaining export finance. This will provide companies with a unique opportunity to obtain knowledge of and access to financing of their international business transactions.

Danish companies and their customers often have limited knowledge of financing opportunities in Denmark as well as locally and internationally. This applies especially to small and medium-sized enterprises.

Consequently, Danish companies are in a relatively poorer position than their international competitors in respect of financing of export and investment projects. The right financing is a key competitive parameter for Danish companies, especially in relation to exports to growth markets.

The collaboration initiative will strengthen Danish companies' access to expertise in and advice on financing opportunities in connection with exports and investment. Specifically, the collaboration will involve the establishment of a Copenhagen-based team of employees from EKF and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and financial advisors will be recruited in seven selected growth markets to assist Danish companies in the export markets.

The seven selected markets are:
> Brazil (covering Latin America)
> Russia (covering the CIS countries)
> Turkey
> Thailand (covering South-East Asia)
> South Africa (covering Kenya and South Africa)
> China
> Poland (covering Eastern Europe)

The financial advisors will assist Danish companies and their international customers in identifying relevant financing solutions as regards export credit, credit insurance, aid, multilateral sources and investment guarantees. This applies both to private and governmental financing solutions.

Exporters can either contact the Copenhagen-based unit or the financial advisors in the selected markets. This week, all the new financial advisors will be gathering in Denmark. Companies interested in taking advantage of the new service may contact EKF on +45 35 46 26 00.
