Category A projects comprise projects with significant adverse environmental impacts, such as oil refineries, steel works, large oil and gas pipelines, large dams, large dumping grounds and major farm projects.
In compliance with the OECD’s environmental recommendation, EKF asks the exporter or project sponsor to make the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (EIA) publicly available in connection with this type of projects. It is a condition precedent for an EKF guarantee that the EIA has been made publicly available at least 30 calendar days before EKF’s final commitment to grant cover.
