Taiba Ndiaye Wind Farm, Senegal

The project is located in the Taiba region in Senegal about 70 kilometers northeast of Dakar. It consists of 46 Vestas V126-3.45MW Mk. III turbines with a total capacity of about 158,7MW. The project is classified as a Category A-project according to OECD Common Approaches. EKF is carrying out environmental and social due diligence against IFC Performance Standards and relevant sector and general Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines, relevant laws and regulations, OECD Common Approaches and Equator Principles.

Beldan FLLC, Belarus

The project consists of two pig-farms and a slaughterhouse.  The farms are located at Slonim and Tolochin which is respectively about 170 kilometers southwest and 150 kilometers northeast of Minsk. The slaughterhouse is located in an industrial area in Baranovichi. Livestock at each farm consists of 2.000 sows and the production is designed for 55.000 finishers per year. The slaughterhouse has a capacity on approximately 250.000 pigs/year.

The project is classified as a Category A-project according to OECD Common Approaches. EKF is carrying out environmental and social due diligence against relevant laws and regulation including Danish and EU legislation on animal welfare, IFC Performance Standards and OECD Common Approaches.

Kiata, Australia

The wind farm is located in Victoria 50km north west of Horsham close to Kiata. The wind farm will consist of 9 turbines with an installed capacity of 30 MW. EKF is assessing the project against national laws and regulations, the Equator Principles and OECD Common Approaches.

Sapphire, Australia

The wind farm is located in northern New South Wales 18 km west of the town of Glen Innes. The wind farm will consist of 75 turbines with an installed capacity of 270 MW. EKF is assessing the project against national laws and regulations, the Equator Principles and OECD Common Approaches.

Norther NV, Belgium

Norther is an offshore windfarm, which is located approximately 25 kilometers from Zeebrugge. The project will consist of
MHI Vestas Offshore Wind WTGs and have a capacity around 370MW. The project also includes export cable and an offshore substation.

The project is classified as a Category A-project according to OECD Common Approaches and EKF Guidelines. EKF is carrying out environmental and social due diligence against relevant laws and regulation, the Equator Principles and OECD Common Approaches.

Three windparks in South Africa
1 June 2016

EKF is involved in the financing of three different onshore wind parks in South Africa. The projects are located in three different places, but each project will consist of 43 turbines and each with an installed capacity of approximately 140MW.

The three projects are:

> Karusa
> Oyster Bay

Tellenes Windfarm, Norge

Tellenes is an on-shore wind farm which is located in Rogaland in an area 4-5 kilometers north of Åna-Sira in the southwestern of Norway. The windfarm will consist of 50 windturbines and will have an installed capacity of approximately 160MW. The windfarm will also consist of an overhead transmissionline, which will be connected to the substation in Åna-Sira.
 
The project is classified as a Category A-project according to OECD Common Approaches and EKF guidelines. EKF is carrying out environmental and social due diligence against relevant laws and regulation, the Equator Principles and OECD Common Approaches.

Scandinavian Farms, China

The project is located in the eastern parts of China in an area about 350 km northwest of Shanghai. The production farm as a whole consist of a breeding farm housing 7.800 breeding sows and a finisher farm with a production of approximately 230.000 finishers.
 
The project is classified as a Category A-project according to OECD Common Approaches. EKF is carrying out environmental and social due diligence against relevant laws and regulation including Danish and EU legislation on animal welfare, IFC Performance Standards and OECD Common Approaches.

Rentel, Belgium

Rentel is an offshore windfarm which is located approximately 32 kilometers from the harbor of Zeebrugge in Belgium. The windfarm will consist of 42 Siemens 7.0-154 WTGs and have a capacity around 300MW. The project also consists of a subsea export cable from the wind farm to an onshore jointing pit.
 
The project is classified as a Category A-project according to OECD Common Approaches and the EKF Guidelines. EKF is carrying out environmental and social due diligence against relevant laws and regulation, the Equator Principles and OECD Common Approaches.

Beatrice, UK

Beatrice is an off-shore wind farm which is located in the Outer Moray Firth approximately 14 kilometers from the Caithness coastline in Scottish Territorial Waters. The windfarm is expected to consist of 84 Siemens WTGs and two off-shore substations and is expected to have an installed capacity of 588MW. In addition there will be subsea export cables and an onshore export cable, which will convey the electricity to Blackhillock substation.
 
The project is classified as a Category A-project according to EKF Guidelines due to having a capacity of more than 100MW. EKF is carrying out environmental and social due diligence against relevant laws and regulation, the Equator Principles and OECD Common Approaches.

Project Skywalker, wind farm, Norway

The project consist of six different onshore windfarms located in mid-Norway around Trondheim. Overall the project will include 278 Vestas turbines and have a capacity around 1000MW. Broken down into locations the project include the following:
-      Roan, 71 turbines/255,6MW
-      Kvenndalsfjellet, 28 turbines/100,8MW
-      Harbaksfjellet, 30 turbines/111,6MW
-      Storheia, 80 turbines/288MW
-      Geitfjellet, 43 turbines/154,8MW
-      Hitra 2, 26 turbines/94MW
 
In addition there will be access roads, internal roads, internal grids and substations for each windfarm.
The project is classified as a Category A-project according to the OECD Common Approaches. EKF is carrying out environmental and social due diligence against relevant laws and regulation, the Equator Principles and OECD Common Approaches.

Cementos Argos – Expansion of the Sogamoso Cement Plant, Colombia 
19 November 2015
 
The project is located near Sogamoso in the Boyacá Department of Colombia, approximately 200 km northeast of Bogota. The project is an expansion of an existing cement plant with a new line. The existing plant has a capacity of 1,700 tons clinker per day, while the new line will have a capacity of 4,300 tons clinker per day. The project will utilize the existing quarries. The existing plant covers an area of 44 Ha and the expansion of the plant will require an additional 9 Ha of land. The project has been classified as a Category A project according to OECD Common Approaches. EKF is assessing the project against IFC Performance Standards and relevant sector specific and gen-eral Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines.

Lacedonia, Italien

The project is located in the southern parts of Italy about 100 kilometers east of Naples in an area around the city Lacedonia. The project consists of 15 Vestas turbines: 6 V110-2.0 MW with hub height of 120 meter and rotor diameter of 110 meter and 9 V126-3.3 MW with hub height of 117 meter and rotor diameter of 126 meter – a total capacity of 41,7 MW. In addition there is a 150 kV transmission line which is about 20 kilometers.
The project is classified as a Category A project according to OECD CA. EKF is assessing the project against IFC Performance Standards and relevant sector specific and general Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines.

La Mesa, Mexico

La Mesa is a wind farm located in the region of Tamaulipas, Mexico, with an installed capacity of 49,5 MW. The project is to consist of 15 wind turbine generators of 3x3 MW, together with a transmission line of 26,3 Km.
 
EKF is currently carrying out the review of the project against relevant laws and regulations, the Equator Principles and OECD Common Approaches on environmental and social due diligence.

Belwind II, Belgien

The Belwind II is an offshore wind farm with an installed capacity of 165MW to be constructed on the Bligh bank approximately 45 km north off the Belgian Coast. The project will consist of 50 turbines; together with inter array cabling, an export cable and an offshore substation.
EKF is currently carrying out an assessment of the project against relevant laws and regulations as well as evalua-tion the project against the Equator Principles and OECD Common Approaches on environmental and social due diligence.

 Veja Mate

Veja Mate is an offshore wind farm with an installed capacity of 402 MW (output is limited to 400MW) to be built in the German North Sea. The Project is located approximately 95 km North West of the island of Borkum within the German Exclusive Economic Zone (“EEZ”). The project is to consist of 67 wind turbines generators, together with associated monopile foundations with bolted transition pieces, inter array cabling and offshore substation platform. 

EKF is currently carrying out the review of the project against relevant laws and regulations, the Equator Principles and OECD Common Approaches on environmental and social due diligence.

San Juan wind farm, Chile

The San Juan wind project is located in Atacama region of Chile. Once developed, the wind farm will consist of 56 3,3MW wind turbines with a total capacity of 184,8 MW with a 220 kV transmission line of 86 km.
 
EKF is currently finalizing the assessment of the project against Chile law and regulations as well as evaluating the project against the Equator Principles and OECD Common Approaches on environmental and social due diligence. Please find more information here.

Cape Wind

The project is the Cape Wind Offshore wind farm located in the Nantucket Sound of Massechusetts, United States of America. When fully developed the offshore wind farm will have a total capacity of 468MW, consisting of 130 turbines. The project will be developed in two steps - Season A comprising 101 turbines with a capacity of 364MW and Season B comprising 29 turbines with a capacity of 104MW. The wind farm will be conncted to the grid through a 20.3km submerged and a 9.4km on-shore overhead transmission line.
 
The project has been in preparation for more than a decade and EKF is currently finalizing the assessment of the project against US state, federal and local environmental and social laws under the framework of the Equator Principles.

The project is the Boikarabelo Waterberg Coal Project located in the Limpopo Province in South Africa. It is a greenfield coal mine which include construction of 40 km railway and transmission line.

Burgos wind project

The Burgos Wind Farm is located in the northern part of the Philippines in the province of Ilocos Norte and will consist of 50 turbines with a capacity to generate 150MW. The project also comprises a new substation in Burgos and a 115kV transmission line of approximately 42 kilometers which will convey the produced electricity to a substation in Laoag City. The wind farm will be constructed in two phases and is currently under construction.

The project consists of an ammonia fertilizer facility to be established at a currently non-operating industrial and mine site area of a total of 4,000 ha. Associated facilities include existing phosphate mine site and fertilizer plant. '

Ijsselmeer wind farm, Netherlands
 
8 April 2014

The wind farm is located in the Ijsselmeer, along the coast-line Noordermeer and Westermeer Dykes of the Noordoostpolder. It will consist of a total of 48 turbines with a total capacity of 144 MW. The wind farm is divided into three rows, one row along the Noordermeerdijk consisting of 13 wind turbines, and two rows along the Westermeerdijk consisting of 17 and 18 wind turbines. The Ijsselmeer is an important natural area, designated a so-called Natura 2000 area. The project also comprises the underground 33 kV cables and substation near the Westermeer Dyke. The project will be part of the Wind Farm Noordoostpolder, which includes the realization of up to 429MW of power.

The Awash/Hara Gebeya Railway Project, Ethiopia

The Awash/Hara Gebeya Railway Project consist of construction of 463. 5 km railway in Ethiopia. The project includes stations and technical buildings along the railway.

Ethiopian Railways Corporation is the owner of the project and they have appointed Yapi Merkezi as the contractor of the project.

EKF is evaluating the project against the IFC Performance Standards and relevant IFC Environmental, Health and Safety guidelines.

Fantanele Pig Farm Project, Romania

20 December 2013

The project, which is located near the village Fantanele in Romania, comprises renovation and expansion of an existing pig farm housing 2,500 to 6,200 sows in order to increase the existing capacity from 64,000 finishers to approx. 100,000 per year. The project will house the weaners (up to 30kg), whereas the finishers from 30 to 107 kg) will be housed at a nearby farm owned by the same company (Premium Porc SRL, which is a daughter company of the Danish company DCH International A/S).

The project has been subject to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and will have its Integrated Pollution, Prevention and Control (IPPC) permit updated before commencing full operation. The EIA as well as the IPPC set specific requirements for managing environmental impacts. Slurry will be stored in lagoons designed according to Danish standards before applied on neighbouring farms according to EU standards. 

All stables are designed according to Danish animal welfare standards. Transport of weaners will not exceed 30km and transportation of finishers will not exceed 400km. Transport of pigs will be done in the company’s own fleet of trucks all meeting Danish standards for animal welfare.

Lake Turkana Wind Farm Project

The project comprises a 310 MW wind farm project in Marsabit District in northern Kenya, approximately 50km north of South Horr Township and 8km east of Lake Turkana. The project will comprise a wind farm, associated overhead electric grid collection system and a high voltage switchyard. The Project also includes rehabilitation of the existing road from Laisamis to the wind farm site, a distance of approximately 200km, as well as plant and equipment lay-down areas, and access road network in and around the site for construction, operations and maintenance purposes.

The project will include as an associated facility the construction of a 400kV transmission line of approximately 430 Km. The transmission line is the responsibility of the Kenyan Government through the
state owned Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) and will not be financed as part of this project.

Taltal Wind Farm, Chile

The project comprises the construction, installation and operation of a wind farm with a power generating capacity of 99 MW. As part of the project a 220 kV transmission line of 47 km long will be constructed.

Crucea Wind Project in Romania

Wind Farm with a total capacity of 108 MW. The project includes upgrading of agricultural service roads, construction of new access roads, construction of a new transformer station (Stupina 2) and construction and operation of underground high-voltage transmission lines.

Porc production, Slovakia

New large European Porc Production (EPP) Holding pig farm project: Farma Terezov Pig production farm is an existing pig production farm, which will be completely renovated for producing 1,454 sows/gilts, 29,952 weaners (7,4-30 kg) and 29,896 finishers annually from 30 – 120 kg live weight.
 
The farm is located approximately 74 km to the capital Bratislava. The farm is placed in an area with other farmers, and there is approximately 3.5 km to the nearest farm. The farm is located 1 km to the nearest lake.

Pre-mixed feed for pigs will be purchased from a feed mill and delivered to the feed silos at the pig farm. The feed will be applied liquid feed for finishers and dry feed for sows and weaners.

Slurry from the Farm will be partly spread on the fields in accordance with EU standards, partly used in biogas. Wheat are grown on the fields and harvested once a year.
