EKF´s equity capital has been enlarged by DKK 400 million in 2009 due to a substantial increase in the demand for guarantees, including export loans and reinsurance. This high level of activity is expected to continue.

Without a capital contribution EKF´s capital ratio would fall below 8 pct which is the minimum requirement set by law. Once the capital ratio falls below the minimum requirement, the issue of new guarantees would have to be suspended.

The capital contribution is thus necessary to ensure that EKF can continue to offer Danish export competitive terms in connection with the coverage of extraordinary risks related to export.

With the capital contribution EKF will be able to issue new guarantees for export transactions worth approximately another DKK 4 billion.
